A Trend To Dye For: Tie Dye
Who else has fond memories of tie-dying cotton t-shirts at Summer camp? Same. But now tie-dye is having a renaissance — and it’s not just reserved for hippies, surf shops or cheap cotton t-shirts. Tie-Dye splashed (quite literally) on to the fashion scene in the 1960s as a form a protest against the Vietnam War, so wearing tie-dye basically meant you were badass and you weren’t afraid to challenge the status quo. The same holds true for the trend today. Whether it’s subtle like this Marques Almeida satin dress or loud and proud like these MSGM jeans, anyone, no matter your wardrobe or your go-to color palette can give tie-dye a shot. I would suggest to wear tie-dye as a form of protest not only against the Vietnam war, but against the war in general. Very colourful and cheering up pieces.
