#WEATEWHAT | Hamptons Eats

Swallow East: For so many reasons, this place is absolutely perfect for groups. It’s located right on the marina, but stands apart from the rest of the restaurants there because of its beachy chic dining atmosphere, live music situation, and rowdy after hours bar scene. In other words, it is a transitional restaurant because you can start and end your night here. They also offer a pretty substantial fixed price menu for groups. But make sure to get a reservation because they like to “close” the bar to the public after a certain hour and a late dinner reservation is the only ticket in.

Lunch (Lobster Roll): This place is red, white, and blue all over. You come here and instantly feel American (expect a lot of fried food). We think they have the best lobster roll in the Hamptons. But roll aside, their menu is huge and has something for everyone. Cool factor: this spot appears multiple times in Showtime’s The Affair.

Scarpetta Beach (at Gurney’s): Scarpetta is our choice for a upscale date night. It has the same elegance and sophistication as it’s spot in Meatpacking, only so much better because it’s on the beach. Expect small portions with a high price tag, but in this case it’s definitely quality over quantity. Nothing beats the pasta with a view.

Surf Lodge: You go to Surf Lodge for the atmosphere, the (Aussie inspired) food is just an added bonus. AKA, your dining reservation is basically the only way in to the drinking scene so you don’t really have a choice. The best part is that most of the seating is outdoor overlooking water. There is even a sandbank with couches for you to sit, drink, and enjoy the amazing live music with friends–check out their website for the full summer concert series schedule. We would be lying if we said SL wasn’t somewhat sceney, but the experience makes it worth it.

Moby’s: Moby’s vibes are a little more mature than the rest on this list and the prices will reflect that. However, their signature Neapolitan style pizzas and pasta have us coming back time and time again. It’s a good spot to just meet up for drinks or even host a large group dinner. We love its rustic and airy interior, but its outdoor space is perfect for the cooler nights.

Candy Kitchen: How often do come across an old school diner these days? Not often (especially in the hamptons), which is why CK holds a special place in our heart. Its charm is in its simplicity and the nostalgia it exudes. It’s perfect for a post workout breakfast with friends.

La Brisa (Tacombi): La Brisa is perfect if you’re looking for a festive yet casual spot to eat before heading out in Montauk. It’s run by the same people behind Tacombi, so expect the same good quality but with extra emphasis on the seafood. We love the crispy fish tacos and mezcal mule cocktail. The cherry on top? They serve breakfast tacos all day.

Navy Beach: You can never go wrong with a beachfront restaurant, especially one with vintage nautical vibes. The menu is comprised of all the traditional seafood you could ever want–think ceviche, crab cakes, clam & corn chowder. It also has prime seating on the sand and some of the best sunset views for the gram.
